will be at Hackney Empire on Friday 26 April 2013 at 7.30pm. This is the only London date on the UK tour to 5 May 2013.

Celebrating 20 years since its first staged performance, West End and Broadway leading lady Kerry Ellis stars in this iconic concert of the Tony Award winning musical 'Rent'. The production will also star runner up of ITV's 'Superstar', Rory Taylor.

The cast are Kerry Ellis (Mimi), Rory Taylor (Roger), Paul Ayres (Mark), Nikki Davis-Jones (Maureen), Leon Lopez (Collins), Ian Stroughair (Angel), Jemma Alexander (Joanne), Kenny Thompson (Benny). It is produced and directed by Daniel Osland-Wood. The Musical Director is Rosalind Jones. Book, music and lyrics for Rent are by Jonathan Larson.

Set in Manhattan’s East Village, RENT is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this musical has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages. Based loosely on Puccini's La Bohème, the show follows a year in the life of a group of friends struggling to make it in the big city under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. Musical numbers include Seasons of Love, Out Tonight, Without You, Will I and Finale B.

Previous cast members include Mel B, Denise Van Outen, Jesse Wallace, Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal. Rent last toured the UK in 2001 and was last in the West-End in 2007. The Broadway production closed on September 7, 2008 after a 12-year run of 5,124 performances, the ninth-longest-running Broadway show of all time. The production grossed over $280 million. The show still plays off-Broadway.The film version was released in 2005 with original Broadway cast Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal.

Kerry Ellis has been in many West End musicals including the first British Elphaba in Wicked which she performed on Broadway for 6 months. She was the original Meat in Queen's ‘We Will Rock You’ . She was Nancy in ‘Oliver’ at the London Palladium, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Ellen in ‘Miss Saigon’ and Fantine in Les Misérables. Her first major CD release was ‘Wicked in Rock’ which was collaboration with Queen guitarist, Brian May. Her debut album was ‘Anthems’ in 2010 for Decca Records. ‘Anthems: The Concert’ with Brian May was at the Royal Albert Hall and subsequent UK tour in 2011. She was in the Arena tour of Jeff Wayne’s ‘War of the Worlds’ and is in the film of Les Misérables.

Rory Taylor has been a professional singer since he was 14. He was runner up in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ TV auditions in 2012. He is lead singer in the band 54321, and sings with his cousin and three brothers. The band are resident at The Cavern Club, Liverpool. 54321 have supported Mel C, Westlife and McFly on major arena tours. They have also performed at international festivals, supporting The Beach Boys. Rory has released two albums, 'What We Did With Our Days' and 'Motion Picture Scenery'.
