the multi Award winning semi autobiographical play by Alan Bennett (2004) directed by Daniel Buckroyd, will be at the Mercury Colchester from Thurs 23 May until Saturday 8 June 2013.

In the cast are Ignatius Anthony (Headmaster), Stephen Ley (Hector), Liza Sadovy (Mrs Lintott), Freddie Machin (Irwin), Sagar Radia (Akthar), Daniel Francis-Swaby (Crowther), Gareth Bennett-Ryan (Lockwood), Scott Arthur (Dakin), Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins (Rudge), Philip Labey (Posner), James Dryden (Timms), Max Gallagher (Scripps).

Stephen Ley was in Alan Bennett’s ‘The Lady In The Van’ at Theatre by the Lake Keswick and in Brian Friel’s ‘Faith Healer’ directed by Daniel Buckroyd in 2009. Award winning Liza Sadovy’s extensive stage career include seasons at the National, RSC and Royal Court. She was in the West End productions of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sunday In the Park with George’ and ‘Into The Woods’. Freddie Machin was in ‘Sir Gawain and The Green Knight’ by Simon Armitage directed and adapted by Daniel Buckroyd. Recent roles include in ‘Kes’ at the Royal Exchange and ‘A Taste of Honey’ at the Lowry. Philip Labey was Peter in Rupert Goold’s production of ‘A Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ last year. Gareth Bennett-Ryan was in Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Farm Boy recent UK tour directed by Daniel Buckroyd.

THE HISTORY BOYS is designed by Dawn Allsopp, with lighting by Mark Dymock, and sound by Marcus Christiensen. The Musical Director is Richard Reeday.
