There will be a free staged reading of Wallace Shawn’s Award winning The Fever at the People Show Studios on Thursday 30 December 2010. This will also include a festive glass of wine.

The Fever (1990) is Wallace Shawn's meditation on the human condition. It tests the barriers that we build to protect ourselves from the world as it is. It will be staged around a dining table.

This 90 minute piece was seen in New York in November with Wallace Shawn, Julianne Moore and Mary Louise Parker.

It is directed by Gary Merry with design by Nik Corrall. The cast includes Amy Simpson, Anthony Wise, Freddie Machin, Vera Chok, Sean Patterson. Piano music is performed by stephenmcaines. There will be pre-show live music.

Gary Merry has just directed ‘To Moscow... To Moscow’, a promenade through the life of Anton Chekhov at the Conway Hall, London with a cast of 38. Anthony Wise was in ‘Fables of Forgotten Things’ TV film with Paul McGann in 2008 and in David McVicar’s ‘Carmen’ for Welsh National Opera/Glyndebourne Touring. Freddie Machin took the title role and Vera Chok played Ygraine in ‘The Death of Tintagel’ by Peter Morris at The People Show Studios for a sell out season in October. Freddie is also performing with High Tide (the world's first producing festival of new plays), recently transferring work to the National, Old Vic and the Bush. Vera Chok recently played Yelena in a new translation of Uncle Vanya, directed by Vik Sivalingam. Sean Patterson recently played Robert Kennedy in ‘The Last Pilgrim’ at The White Bear.
