The world première of Killjoy, a comedy thriller by Douglas McFerran, will be at The Mill At Sonning from Thursday 7 May for a four week season to Saturday 6 June 2015.

Douglas McFerran’s extensive screen writing career includes the Award winning ‘Photo Finish’ with James Purefoy and Aiden Gillen as writer/director and ‘Laws of Attraction’ with Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan. He was script associate and portrayed Russell in ‘Sliding Doors’ starring Gwyneth Paltrow. He played Carlos Vendetta in ‘Johnny English’ with Rowan Atkinson. West End stage roles include the Peter Hall production of Harold Pinter’s ‘The Homecoming’, ‘No Man’s Land’ and ‘Twelve Angry Men’ directed by Harold Pinter.

In the cast are Michael Lumsden (Max Bentley), Sarah Berger (Hermione Bentley), Jessica Claire (Rosie Reed), Zoe Lister (Joy Pendleton), and Simon Naylor (Josh Vivian) directed by Ian McElhinney with design by Eileen Diss, costume design by Jane Kidd and lighting design by Matthew Biss.

Max Bentley (Michael Lumsden) seems to have everything; a beautiful home, a rich wife, his own hit television show, Killjoy, and a cabinet full of accolades and awards…but everyone has their little secrets! Facing the axe at work and unhinged by a blackmailing wife, a traitorous producer, a flirtatious reporter and a handsome young detective, Max is driven to ever more drastic measures to protect his fame and fortune. It’s only when faced with losing everything he realises he has nothing left to lose!

Ian McElhinney is Barriston in ‘Game of Thrones’. He has directed Marie Jones’ award winning ‘Stones In His Pockets’ around the world. Michael Lumsden plays Ambridge Vet Alistair Lloyd in BBC’s ‘The Archers’ and was in the acclaimed Orange Tree Richmond staging of ‘Middlemarch’.

Sarah Berger’s acting credits include three seasons at the RSC playing Olivia in ‘Twelfth Night’ and Anne Boleyn in ‘Henry VIII’ and many West End productions including ‘Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell’ with Peter O’Toole. She directed the sold out season of ‘Last Confessions of a Scallywag’ by Dwina Gibb at the Mill At Sonning last summer where Douglas McFerran played the lead. She will direct the UK première of the Broadway hit ‘Love Loss & What I Wore’ by Nora and Delia Ephron at the Mill at Sonning in August.

The Mill is now heated by Geo-Thermal Energy combined with the existing Hydro Electricity. Phase One of the refurbishment is now complete. Hotspur Theatre's promenade production of 'Dead of Night' produced by Tam Williams will run until Sat May 2.
