Devised and composed by this young company of actor-musicians, this cool blend of hip hop, Shakespeare and explosive dance is fusion theatre at its best. It’s the year 2068. The war for resources is over. Hackney is about to celebrate the marriage of its hero but The Invisibles plan to play havoc with the lives of The Mortals around them...

Following successful New York and Edinburgh seasons, Hackney Empire's Hackney Harlem Theatre Company bring their acclaimed hip-hop adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ to Hackney co–produced by Andy Jordan Productions.

The production features actors, dancers, singers and musicians from The Hackney Empire Theatre’s Artist Development Programme, founded and directed by Susie McKenna in 2000.

The show is directed by Hackney Empire Creative Director Susie McKenna. She is famous for her hugely popular and successful Hackney Empire pantos. The musical supervisor is the internationally successful jazz star, Orphy Robinson, an award-winning and acclaimed musician and composer, famous for his work with Jazz Jamaica All Stars Orchestra and for his recording and live work with Wynton Marsalis, Hugh Masekela, Nana Vasconceles and Andy Sheppard. The production is choreographed by Samantha Francis, who has choreographed highly striking dance routines for Destiny’s Child, Sean Paul, Boyzone, Mark Morrison, LL Cool J and Beyonce.
