will be at Leicester Square Theatre for a seven week season from Saturday 17 November – Sunday 6 January 2013. Stick Man is adapted from the book by Julia Donaldson with illustrations by Axel Scheffler - the creators of ‘The Gruffalo’. Axel Scheffler has designed this year’s Christmas stamps. Julia Donaldson is the Waterstone’s Children’s Laureate. STICK MAN is produced by Scamp Theatre and Watford Palace Theatre.

The cast are Joseph Carey (Musician), Mark Kane (Stick Man) Emily Pollet (Stick Lady Love). The director is Sally Cookson, associate director Pieter Lawman with design by Katie Sykes, lighting by Elanor Higgins and music by Benji Bower.

Sally Cookson, Katie Sykes and Benji Bower are the creative team for the acclaimed ‘Cinderella’ which will be at the new St James Theatre in December and ‘Treasure Island’ both at the Bristol Old Vic last year. Stick Man sold out at the Leicester Square Theatre in 2011 and has toured in Singapore, Hong Kong and Paris. There were also sell out UK tours in 2009 and 2010.

‘Stick Man lives in the family tree

With his Stick Lady Love

and their stick children three...’

One day whilst out for a jog, Stick Man is pounced on by a playful dog. Mistaken for an ordinary stick, he is swept far away, being used for all sorts of things: from a flag mast to a cricket bat, a snowman’s arm to firewood (well almost!). As his adventure unfolds, Stick Man – lost and alone – wonders if he will ever get back to the family tree. Passing through all the seasons and culminating in a joyful Christmas celebration (with an appearance by a certain portly gentleman dressed in red and white) Stick Man will delight children and their families, no matter the time of year. Three actors and a one-man-band combine with a host of colourful characters and animals to magically re-tell Stick Man’s adventures. Music is played live, with a multitude of instruments.

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic picture books include ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’ and ‘Room on the Broom’. Their books have sold millions of copies and have been translated into 40 languages. Their most recent books include ‘Superworm’, ‘The Highway Rat’ and ‘Zog’. Julia Donaldson is currently on a UK children’s library tour. The Scamp production of ‘Tiddler & Other Terrific Tales’ will have an extensive UK tour from March - July 2013 and will include performances at Wyndham’s Theatre London.

‘SCAMP send shivers down my spine. They are so lively and innovative. I love their production of STICK MAN - LIVE ON STAGE! - and so do the audiences.’ Julia Donaldson 2011

‘I think the quality of what Scamp do is amazing’ Michael Morpurgo, The Independent
