Box Office 0844 545 8252

devised and performed by Jeff Achtem - Bunk Puppets will be at The Cow Barn, Bristo Square (Underbelly),Tues 14 – Mon 27 Aug 2012 at 16:30. Earlier this year Swamp Juice played a three week sell out season at the Soho Theatre prior to a ten week UK tour which culminated at Latitude Festival in July 2012. For the first time there will be three musicians on stage playing the guitar, saxophone, ukulele and accordion. The 3 D finale will now have a new massive 3m wide screen.

Welcome to a swamp like no other. Bickering snails, opera singing mice and a rather spineless swamp monster. Using shadow puppetry and bits of rubbish including tinsel and string, acclaimed performer Jeff Achtem brings his gurgling new adventure about life in a swamp, with a stunning 3D finale.

Award winning Swamp Juice was completely sold out at last year’s Edinburgh Festival. There are over 60 puppets in the show. The original musical score is by David Henry, Nick Carver and Tristan Kelley. Swamp Juice is produced by Scamp Theatre.

Jeff Achtem’s show ‘Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones’ also sold out at Edinburgh and subsequently at the Barrow Street Theatre New York in 2010. Jeff Achtem’s new show ‘Slapdash Galaxy’ is currently at the Adelaide Festival.

Jeff was born in British Columbia, Canada on a lake inhabited by a giant mythical serpent. An intensely rehearsed magic show for his extended family at five won him early praise, despite losing the crucial rabbit. Jeff’s mother still owns that magic kit. The rabbit, however, is still missing.

He studied at l’École de Mime Omnibus Montréal, and then in the Le Coq style, with Cirque de Soleil clown, Rene Bazinet. Jeff Achtem was a masterclass resident at le Hanger des Mines, Southern France with clown maestro, Michel Dallaire. In performance puppetry, Jeff has studied with Neville Tranter and the Australian shadow-master Richard Bradshaw.

Performing internationally since 1999, Jeff’s silent clown character, Mr Bunk, is influenced by traditional European street clowning and audience improvisation. His unique performances are in demand world-wide, and he has appeared at arts festivals, variety theatres and cabarets around the globe. Jeff lives in Montreal, and dreams of the day when the rabbit will return.
