Rabbit will be presented during Brits Off Broadway for a 4 week season in June 2007

Press Release 31st July 2006:

Following a sell out season at the Old Red Lion Theatre, Islington this new comedy written and directed by Nina Raine will be presented at Trafalgar Studios II from Tuesday 5 September for a five week season to Saturday 7 October. The press night is on Thursday 7 September.

In the cast are Ruth Everett, Adam James, Martin Turner, Alan Westaway, Hilton McRae, Charlotte Randle and Susannah Wise. It is designed by Jamie Todd, with lighting by Colin Grenfell and sound by Fergus O’Hare. It is produced by Joanna Morgan Productions Ltd. The production is sponsored by U'Luvka Vodka, Eureka! and costumes are by Giorgio Armani.

The comedy opened at the Old Red Lion on 16 May 2006 and is published by Nick Hern. It was short listed for the Verity Bargate Award.

It is Bella’s 29th Birthday. Friends and former lovers meet for a drink to celebrate. But as the Bloody Marys flow, the bar becomes a battlefield. In the uncivil war between the sexes, what happens when the females have the real fire-power – stockpiles of testosterone, lethal wit and explosive attitude? What happens when patriarchy gets personal: when it’s your own father who is tragic and terminal? When the only man you really love is dying?

Nina Raine’s highly acclaimed production of ‘Unprotected’ will be presented at the The Traverse, Edinburgh Festival, from 5 August for 4 weeks. It was seen at the Liverpool Everyman earlier this year. Nina Raine has been an assistant director at the Royal Court. Her second play ‘Tiger Country’ has been commissioned for Hampstead Theatre.

Charlotte Randle (Bella) was in ‘Don Carlos’ at Sheffield Crucible and its sell out season at the Gielgud. She was in ‘Lobby Hero’ with David Tennant at the Donmar. Hilton McRae (Father) has been in many productions with the RSC and the National. He has been in ‘Mama Mia! and ‘Miss Saigon’. Adam James (Richard) was in Michael Winterbottom’s ‘The Road To Guantanamo’ and will be seen in ‘The Amazing Mrs Pritchard’ with Jane Horrocks: ‘Waking The Dead’, and ‘Shiny, Shiny, Bright New Hole In My Heart’ in the autumn.
